You Weren't There -- The History of Chicago Punk 1977-1984
October 5, 2009 - Buzz Fugazi
Something on FACEBOOK alerted me to the regressive films website promoting an upcoming DVD release party. Therefore I sent them the following e-mail:
Dear Regressive Films,
First off, let me say that the promo trailer for your film is one of my all time favorites. Rather than trying to explain punk rock to someone who knows nothing about it, I'd have them look at your preview and they'd either get it or they wouldn't.
Second, rather than a paid vocation, my promotional work for punk rock is a labor of love. Unfortunately, I am a bitter and unhappy person so I don't do enough to promote the scene or the music, especially since I am pushing 50 and prefer listening to Nina Simone over the Pistols. However, when jamming for fun with friends, I find it preferable to cover the Pistols and match Mr. Lydon's outrage, sarcasm and contempt rather than trying to reinterpret Nina. There is, and there will always be, a place in my heart for this obnoxious, throbbing noise that demands ear protection more than careful listening.
Thus, while my blogging and podcasting as Buzz Fugazi for the punk rock site http://msigarmy.com is mainly an exercise in mindless egotism and advancing my hateful and destructive extreme leftist agenda intended purely to smear the good reputations of honest pimps and whores, I would like to promote your film. Any information you can give me, any Mp3's, CD's or interview appointments you can give will be appreciated.
It will be a pleasure to get the word out.
Please contact me. If my readers aren't tired of my usual bullshit, I am, and it would be nice to promote something that is actually related to actual punk rock on our site.
