Buzz Fugazi… what the fuck is the date today?

Only 2 e-mail respond 2 Vietnam screed, but both vibration positive, mon.

Buzz Fugazi,

You need a source for your dad, There was a documentary I saw on

WSIU in the early 80's (most likely produced by that fine PBS

station in Boston) that went through the whole history of Vietnam, and it explains all that. You can probably google an old VHS copy somewhere for pretty cheap (library?). Democracy in the middle east? A Democracy takes a certain amount of "societal evolution". That region is still in the "lungfish" stage.

Buzz sez:

Deathrock,

Thank you for mentioning the great musical and organizational genius Duke Ellington. Many righteous people in all the different ethnic groups are suffering in the Middle East, but I don’t think it’s fair to blame it on the region. For many non-industrial cultures, being left unexploited for peaceful self-determination as if there was some Federation of Planets with a Primary Directive…well, it’s sci-fi, isn’t it? Imperialism and the Clerics being tools for totalitarianism…makes victims of us all. There’s nowhere to hide from this problem. It’s a cancer, but look who’s in charge of fighting it. The people who fund the shit.

Anudder letter I got:

Buzz,

Damned fine column. And you didn't even have to get specific about the French role in the mid-twentieth century heroin trade to make your point.

Aside from Terminator 1 plus 2, and Steve McQueen on a motorcycle in The Great Escape, I think Gene Hackman’s French Connection big chase scene is about all there is better than The Blues Brothers and the one in The Seven Ups. Say what you want about the French, but I had to go see the Blackhawks play Les Habitants. Old school hockey. Eddie Shore.
